Selank 10mg
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide built on the immunopeptide tuftsin and extended for metabolic stability. Supplied as 10mg lyophilized powder in a sealed vial for in-vitro laboratory research.
About Selank
Selank carries the sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. The first four residues reproduce tuftsin, a naturally occurring immunomodulatory tetrapeptide derived from immunoglobulin G. The appended Pro-Gly-Pro tripeptide substantially slows enzymatic degradation, which is the principal reason the analogue is studied rather than tuftsin itself.
The design parallel with Semax is deliberate: both were developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics in Moscow, and both take a short endogenous peptide and stabilise it with the same Pro-Gly-Pro extension. Selank is sometimes designated TP-7 in the literature.
Research on Selank has examined GABAergic and monoaminergic signalling, effects on enkephalin-degrading enzymes, and expression of interleukins and other immune mediators. It is studied as an anxiolytic and nootropic candidate and is not an approved medicine outside the Russian Federation.

Research applications
Selank is used in laboratory settings for work including:
- GABAergic and monoaminergic receptor signalling studies
- Enkephalin-degrading enzyme inhibition assays
- Peptide stability profiling against native tuftsin
- Cytokine and interleukin expression research
Handling and storage
Lyophilized Selank should be stored at -20°C for long-term stability and protected from light and moisture. The sealed vial tolerates ambient temperature for the duration of transit without meaningful degradation.
For reconstitution, bacteriostatic water is typically used. Add the solvent slowly against the inner wall of the vial rather than directly onto the powder, and allow the peptide to dissolve without shaking. Vortexing introduces shear forces that can damage peptide structure. Once reconstituted, store at 2-8°C.
Purity verification
Every batch Athenex Labs supplies is verified at 99%+ purity by high-performance liquid chromatography, with molecular identity confirmed by mass spectrometry. We source directly from ISO-certified manufacturers rather than through reseller chains, and we test independently rather than relying solely on supplier documentation. A batch-specific certificate of analysis is available on request.
Frequently asked questions
How does Selank relate to tuftsin?
Selank's first four residues (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) are tuftsin, an endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide. The added Pro-Gly-Pro tail protects it from rapid enzymatic breakdown, which is what makes the analogue practical to study.
What is the correct molecular weight?
Approximately 751.9 for the free peptide, formula C33H57N11O9. A figure near 863 circulates on some vendor pages — that does not match the free-base formula and appears to be a copied error.
Is Selank related to Semax?
They are siblings in design, not in sequence. Both come from the same Moscow research programme and both use a Pro-Gly-Pro extension for stability, but Semax is built on an ACTH fragment and Selank on tuftsin.
How should Selank be stored?
Store the sealed lyophilized vial at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted solution should be kept at 2-8 degrees C and used promptly, as the peptide is less stable in solution than as lyophilized powder.
